Ever since I was little I've wanted to become a very important person- a person that everyone aspires to be like and be around. Growing up, I never really had many friends. I was really anti social and the thought of being around a lot of people scared me. People used to think I was weird because I didn't like doing the same things as all the other kids, but I never really cared what people thought. I always told myself everything is going to be okay, because one day I'll become that person everyone thinks is cool and want to be like.
At the age of 10, my family and I moved from California to Texas because my dad was retiring from the Navy and my mom wanted to move closer to her family. When I first moved to Dallas, I noticed how every thing was so different from California. The kids, the schools, the houses, the people, and the way people talked shocked me. I had to make a lot of adjustments to this new life. The biggest difference was that most the kids in Texas played sports, so one day my mom went to the nearest recreation center and signed me up for basketball. At first I wasn't so sure about it because all I ever played in California was soccer, but my mom, other family members, and all the kids thought basketball would be a better fit for me since I was taller than most other kids.
Ever since that day I have continued playing basketball and committed several hours of hard work to be the best I can be. Turning to basketball for relief has brought me though a lot. Whenever I'm having a hard time, basketball has always been a way I could escape from everything and just have fun and live. I hope that one day I can be good enough to play professionally somewhere. My love for basketball has helped me build up my character make me the person I am today.
